Val d'Isère is one of the best ski resorts in the world! Joined with Tignes to form the Espace Killy ski area, it's the equal

of the Trois Vallées and the nightlife is fantastic. This is one of the most popular resorts for first time Seasonnaires and many returning Seasonnaires. It offers both great powder, being one of the higher resorts, and epic Apres Ski/Nightlife!

Val d’Isere Seasonnaire

A bit about Robyn
I am currently a Supervisor at the Jack Wills store in Bicester. I have recently got back from A months’ work in Jack Wills (Kildare, Ireland) where I helped set up the shop and train staff. I have worked for Jack Wills for over 10 months. Before working here I worked in Abercrombie and Fitch, London as a Visual Member. I have decided to do a ski season in Val D’isere as I want to experience this opportunity.

What are you doing for work on your season?
I am going to Val d’isere intentionally to get my qualifications to instruct. I am going with a group called ICE. With this course I will hopefully pass my level 1 and 2 BASI qualifications and be able to instruct all over the world. The course I am doing starts on the 3rd January and finishes on March 10th but I plan to stay till the end of April and hopefully find more work.

Is this your 1st season or are you a returning Seasonnaire?
This is my first season but I have been too many resorts skiing and boarding and I feel this is for me and I can’t wait to go!

Skier/boarder
I have been skiing since I was 5, but started snowboarding when I was 12 so I like to do both!

Favourite Resort
I have 2 favourite resorts. For great nightlife I love Val d’isere but for the snow and slopes I like Val Thorens, Both resorts are awesome though.

What you are looking forward to the most this season?
One of my main goals is to finish the season qualified with both BASI level 1 and 2 but without sounding cliché I want to just enjoy myself and make the most of the 4 months I am there, also up for meeting new people and socialising and being a big party animal.

One goal you have set yourself to achieve for 08/09 season
To qualify and to leave the resort feeling like I have achieve something. I also want to just have a wicked time and do as much as I can!

Any advice out there for people contemplating a ski season?
Do it! You will only regret it, so many people do one year and then end up doing season after season for the next 10 years, You have nothing to loose, just enjoy it, you get to ski all day and party at night... how can anything else compare to that!

Caroline

Val d’Isere Seasonnaire

A bit about Caroline
My name is Caroline Currie and whilst i love to ski I also live for the sun and cannot wait to leave cold Glenshee behind in exchange for a Ski Season in sunny Val D' isere. I'm bubbly and vibrant, always up for a good time and meeting new people. I did apply for shipwrecked but turned down the interview when i realised how much this ski season meant to me.

What are you doing for work on your season?
I am working in the Banana Bar which I am looking forward to as it is a chance to meet new people and have some great banter!

Is this your 1st season or are you a returning Seasonnaire?
No i am a Seasonnaire virgin!

Skier/boarder
Definitely skier, we have far more style!

Favourite Resort
I have definitely been around the block as far as ski resorts go but without a doubt Val D'isere. You just can't beat its vibrant atmosphere and the opportunities it presents to make new friends and have a wicked time!

Role model- favourite rider?
Got to be Jonny Moseley with all those tricks up his sleeve!

What you are looking forward to the most this season?
The chance to do what i do best, ski and have fun. I have been dreaming of this through 5 years of school and finally it will be realized.

One goal you have set yourself to achieve for 08/09 season
To improve my ski tricks and of course my skiing in general and have the best gap year that anyone could ask for.

Any advice out there for people contemplating a ski season?
Come to the Banana Bar!

Luke

Val d’Isere Seasonnaire

A bit about Luke
After spending the summer in New York City and sailing in Greece, I got a job during the autumn to get some cash together for the ski season. Which has been something I have wanted to do for as long as I can remember. I have been Skiing since I was 4, it’s my favourite sport and always has been, but I play rugby and go to the gym- too much- but I need something to keep me occupied until the ski season starts. I Love partying, going out, meeting new people and try to make the best of every situation.

What are you doing for work on your season?
This season I am doing my Ski instructor training with ICE in Val D’isere. The course runs from jan 3rd until March 14th and after that I am planning to ski by day and live it up in Val d’isere by night.

Is this your 1st season or are you a returning Seasonnaire?
Yes

Skier/boarder
Skier

Favourite Resort
Val D’isere, it has it all, the town, slopes, shops, off piste, and the nightlife!

Role model- favourite rider?
Jon Olsson- He’s one of the best and most progressive riders out there, and he put a ski box on top of his Lamborghini Gallardo. Enough said.

What you are looking forward to the most this season?
Waking up every morning knowing your going skiing!

One goal you have set yourself to achieve for 08/09 season
Qualify as an instructor and still have time to progress my park and backcountry skills.

Any advice out there for people contemplating a ski season?
Just do it. You won’t regret it. You will have the time of your life, surrounded by people having the time of their lives!

Jack

Val d’Isere Seasonnaire

A bit about Jack
Hiya, my name is Jack Nicholson and im 22, from Sevenoaks in kent. I have just graduated from Nottingham University and spent the last 4 months travelling around Asia before coming out to Val.

What are you doing for work on your season?
I'm repping for Skiworld in Val D’Isere

Is this your 1st season or are you a returning Seasonnaire?
This is my first season although I have been to Val a few times before, and im absolutely loving the work hard play hard lifestyle!

Skier/boarder
I am a skier!

Favourite Resort
I chose Val as its my favourite ski resort as it has amazing skiing across the Espace Killy and also has the legendary nightlife to keep us entertained throughout the season! I have been to most of the major resorts in the alps but Val is definitely my favourite.

Role model- favourite rider?
In terms of role models my favourite skier is Tanner Hall who I saw at a competition a few months ago and I’d love to be able to pull off a few of his tricks by the end of the season!

What you are looking forward to the most this season?
The things I am most looking forward to this season are meeting loads of new mates and having lots of messy nights in Dicks! I also want to work hard on my skiing and make sure im successful in my job so they let me back next year! Also looking to improve my freestyle skiing throughout the season, and want to learn to board when I get the chance.

One goal you have set yourself to achieve for 08/09 season
My goal for the season is to leave with no regrets knowing I have got involved with everything I can and made the most of this awesome opportunity.

Any advice out there for people contemplating a ski season?
My advice to anyone contemplating a season is go for it, the lifestyle is amazing and the experiences and friends are something not to be missed. You have to get out and do it while your young otherwise you’ll regret it later in life!

Hey Guys!!

So we have come to the end of the 10 week instructor course, its been an awesome experience but now it was time to celebrate. As we are getting into spring and the weather is insanely hot and sunny, someone had the brilliant idea of bikini skiing from the top of the funival down to Follie! Now it was all planned out and everyone was up for it but even with sunny weather and clear blue skies, no one knew how cold it really was going to feel!

As we approched Follie in our Bikinis, I dont think i have ever seen so many cameras come out at once, it was hilarious how much stur we caused! Anyway we spent the afternoon dancing on tables and celebrating in Cafe Face and it was an awesome day.

Now ive got the rest of the season to do what I want! Come Visit!!

Hey Guys,

Now the Championships are over, some of the races where pretty intense, was a wicked 2 weeks, got loads of free milka from the milka tent and me managed to spend the 2 weeks blagging free stuff so it was pretty cool. Now its all over its very much back to the skiing course, everyone is starting to realise that going out every night may have to stop to ever other night, I seriously struggle to get up at 8 in the morning!

Half term this week so its so busy everywhere, ques for all the lifts, but night lift is buzzing. Loads of parties. Danois held a pole dancing competion the other night, extremely funny.

Hey guys!

Had a very successful week last week, managed to pass my basi course, not to sure how i did it with the amount of alcohol that was drunk but all went well! And obviously we all had to go out and celebrate so yet again more alcohol and partying. Think most of us made it to Dicks and passed out on the sofas there... good times!

Apart from that we have had some awesome snow over the last 2 days, think it was just under a metre so it was insane! Spent the last 2 days dressed in avalanche transmitters whilst we treked the untouched mountains, my legs are offically dead now though. Was sooo much fun.

Hope all is well guys

Hello All!
The last week has been pretty eventful. So far on the course we have just have a personal performance week, has been pretty good, hard work tho, soooo shattered.
The night life has been awesome, if you dont go out one night you feel like your missing out on loads so there is no time to waste! On wednesday night we have a big session in Saloon bar which was wicked and last night was the Jack Wills sponsered night at Dicks Tea Bar which was a massive success, so many people there and loads of free stuff given out. Pictures will be up soon.

The weather here is sunny but still very cold, wicked skiing tho! has been a great week. One week gone, 12 weeks left!

Hellloooo!!

Hey guys, hope everyone is well. Check out the view from my apartment!

I Have now been here for 2 nights and i can already say i have practically passed out in both Dicks and Saloon! If any of you are coming to Val these 2 bars are both a must see! Its sooo much fun, everyone is wicked.

Now onto the more 'serious' part of why I am here, So far on the course we have had 2 days of intense training for our BASI level 1. Its going well, the snow is amazing but this morning was

-15 degrees!! Im sure it would be going alot better if i was getting more then 4 hours sleep but Oh well!!

The last two nights have been a mission to talk to as may people as possible and tell them about this Saturdays Jack Will Party and Dicks Tea Bar, So far there seems to be a good vibe and a massive list of people wanting to come so I cant wait for the guys to get here, will be awesome to see them all!

Will try and get some more amusing pictures up, so far i have been stupid enough to not take my camera out!

Hey Guys,

Firstly .... Happy New Year! Hope everybody had an awesome night!

Anyway here I am kicking off the one and only Val D'isere Blog right here from Heathrow Airport, Terminal 5. With a nice early alarm call at 5am and a lucky escape from getting out of paying my overweight baggage allowance I am finally here waiting to get on the plane to VD!

I cannot wait to get to the slopes in Val, the snow over there is insane! But most importantly I intend to go straight to Dicks Tea Bar and start partying early! Anyway best to, will get some pictures up as soon as poss.
